...Read MoreRead more about First, let me say I LOVE Asombroso initial waft as you pour the first drink are exactly what you’d expect from AsomBroso and a bottle of this caliber. Many flavors can be sensed but the caramel is the key in my opinion. The taste is perfectly in tune with the anejo quality but seems to be missing that wine cask nose it used to have . I just don’t taste that wine fragrance anymore, just oak cask. – However, it still has got that thicker, yumminess that you can see on the glass after you drink. The smoothness was dead on perfect – the extra years are noticeable when compared to the younger brother (5 year). The swallow and backbite were to die for. I did expect a little smoother, longer pause before the burn but I’m a bit picky. After the swallow, you could feel the entry to your stomach without any discomfort – clean and pure.
Would I say ‘best I’ve ever had?’ Actually. No. My first AsomBroso Anejo’s 15-20 yrs ago when it first appeared still tasted more like the cognac they talk about in the ad. My first experiences with AsomBroso years back are still distinct in my mind. I could taste the used French wine casks back then.
